2024 NATIONAL SHARED SERVICES TECHNICAL CONFERENCE
This fall, Sylvia Eugenia Ruiz (CMF, SEP), founder and executive director of Primordial, will participate in this conference alongside Paula Drew WEESSN Co-Director.
The early care and education system in the U.S. is in a pivotal moment. New resources are urgently needed, but far too many opportunities are missed when we fail to harness the power of modern technology, re-think the traditional business model and leverage existing resources in powerful and innovative ways. This conference will highlight what’s possible when we make critical connections to create a “greater whole”.

4-NIGHT TREK: UP OF MICHIGAN FOR LATINÉ CANCER SURVIVORS AT THE TNT WALDEN INSTITUTE
The Power of Finding and Being Found. Transformative experiences in nature empowered by mindful awareness practices and peers who "get it."
Video by Walden Institute
This trek is intended for young adult cancer survivors who identify as Latiné. Get ready to explore the beauty of the wilderness, take a closer look at the person you have become since your cancer diagnosis, and meet other young adult cancer survivors.
True North Treks is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower young adults and caregivers affected by cancer to "find direction through connection." One of the primary ways we do this is by taking groups on free backpacking and canoeing treks in beautiful and remote wilderness destinations where they can engage in three crucial connections:
1) Connection with nature (after going through something as unnatural as cancer treatment).
2) Connection with peers who get it and have walked a similar path.
3) Connection with oneself through mindful awareness practices, such as meditation and yoga.

This five session-training is an invitation from WEESSN through Primordial Multicultural Healing Community. The series will support Spanish-speaking childcare providers in having an extended approach to incorporating mindfulness practices, including somatic movements (based on the direct perception of the body) in their everyday work lives.
As a group, we will explore questions such as: What is mindfulness? How might it be beneficial to us, our relationships, our professional lives, and our world? How can we recover the practice of play? How can we incorporate these practices into our busy, daily lives?
We will start to discover how mindfulness in a group setting can provide us with the opportunity to pause and tune our attention inward. Sylvia Eugenia Ruiz, CMF and some special guests will guide participants into a restorative and healing experience throughout this series.
